Seems that I don't write very often....and it's not that I don't have anything to say. I am always running my mouth and I certainly have an opinion about a lot of different things. My issue is that I continually talk myself out of writing by telling, or should I say asking, myself questions like....So, in 2 weeks will this matter??? The answer is usually "no". But there are many things that have happened lately to people I care deeply about that I thought that perhaps if I wrote a few things down it would help to put some of it in perspective.
The first thing that comes to mind today is the death of the father of one of my childhood friends. It was quite unexpected even though he was over 80 years old. Just the week before he had mowed his daughter’s lawn for her. This particular morning he was eating breakfast and just like that, his time was up. I was talking to my friend on the phone the day afterward and she was telling me about the funeral arrangements and made mention of the fact that the funeral home was "finding a minister for them". Come to find out, nobody in the family was a member of a church. They had no minister of their own. How come I didn't know that? I knew she was not going to church currently…but I had no idea. When I talked to her about her own eternal destination she claims she is ready, she knows all the right answers….but really?

Scripture Memory Verse

I have joined Beth Moore's Blog and she has an accountability group for scripture memorization. This is my firtst one for the month.
I find that this scripture is very appropriate for me as I begin this month due to mulitple issues that I am experiencing right now. Another quote that I am using to keep myself in line is by Chuck Swindoll on

Financial Peace University
Our church is going to be participating in Dave Ramsey's "Financial Peace University" beginning February 1, 2009. I have been reading his book and because of that I am waiting very expectantly for these classes to begin. There is so much that I don't know about money and how to handle it. I think it pretty well handles me. Just reading the book made wish I had someone teach me as a young child and young adult. Of course I was pretty strong willed and very impulsive. I didn't give myself a chance to learn anything before I jumped into the adult world. It is very hard not to regret past actions sometimes. I do; however, want to move forward armed with this new knowledge.
One important lesson I do know is that it is never too late for anything. God is never finished cleaning us up and He will do so until our homegoing if we let him. With this in mind I know it is possible for me to dramatically turn this part of my life around and be able to better manage my finances.
It is never too late.

Another News Update Post
So here I am again posting after a very long time.....what to tell....
Matthew is now a single father, he has custody of Jacob (now almost 3) and that is a good thing for all concerned. They are living in a townhouse in Oakwood. Matthew has a new lady in his life and I think they are very good together.
Jodie and Jared did indeed get married on Labor Day weekend 2007. They bought a house in April 2008. I just found out that I am going to be a Nana again. They think the baby is due in late September 2009. We will know more after she goes to her doctor.
Jennifer has now been out on her own for a couple of years. They are living in a nice 4 bedroom house not to far from her sister. She has a new man in her life who appears to take very good care of her and the girls. I think that they kinda like him too. :-)
I bought a house in June, 2008. It is a double-wide mobile home in Buford. It sits on a large lot. Me, who doesn't like to do yard work now has a very large yard. Go figure. I like the house itself. It has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. Just enough room. There is also a good sized storage shed out in the back yard. It has a nice front porch and a large back deck. Which is wonderful for entertaining in the summer time.
Taylor had to have emergency surgery for a ruptured appendix just after the school year started. She is just fine now but it was a scary thing for her and the family to have to go through.
I broke my ankle at the end of September 2008 and had to be in a cast for 6 weeks so I couldn't drive. Fortunately I was able to work from home which saved me from dying of boredom.
Thanksgiving was celebrated at Jodie and Jared's new home. Both sides of their family attended. I think the final total of people they served was 29. It was a lot of fun and they did a great job and were excellent hosts. It was their first Turkey too!
Jennifer and Eric served Christmas dinner for both of their families and once again we had a great time and food was most excellent. Jennifer had the house decorated to the hilt as always.
Our last event of 2008 happened the day after Christmas when Mom fell and broke her hip. She had to have surgery and the then spent 20 days in a re-hab center. She has just come home this very week. She is doing well but has some more work to do in order to be completely recovered. She is so determined that I am sure she will be there soon.
My sister Ann and her family came down from North Carolina while Mom was in the hospital. This was a planned vacation trip for them, they just hadn't planned on the hospital part. They were here for New Years Eve so my nephew came over to my house as did all 4 of the grandkids to spend the night. We popped popcorn and watched movies until it was time to watch the peach drop at midnight. Everyone except little Jacob made it all the way to midnight. He was down for the count at 8:30. I had a blast and hope it can he repeated again next year. I think we will decorate and have hats and noise makers next year.
So now I think that I am caught up on the basics. Let's see if I can be more consistent in posting this year. Not sure who really wants to read this stuff but I will do it anyway.

Pride vs Self-Esteem
I think that I have an issue in at least one of these areas. It is a toss up...I think perhaps a little of both. Why is it that I can not seem to word things in such a way that people understand what I am trying to communicate. It appears to me that I offend people, or they think I am ignorant or something. Do they think I am being critical? I feel like my ideas are rejected because it doesn't fit into their agenda...but then my ideas pop up somewhere else and it is as if they never heard me speak and they get all the credit and glory. So do I want the credit and glory? Not really but what I would like is to be able to participate at some level; however they don't want you to give your ideas, they just want you to support theirs. That is the only participation they require. Does that mean I have a pride problem? Or is this just an issue of having a "they are out to get me" mentality. I like to think that I have a servant's heart....but do I? I don't like to be ignored. I try to give other people attention and I guess I would like for people to at least pretend to give me some of theirs. So that poses another question, do they perceive me as an "attention hog"? I can go around in circles like this. I am just frustrated....maybe I should just shut up, sit back and do the things that they create and not worry about it. After all you can't get to heaven through works.......(and I am not going to tell you who "they" are).

Passion
Hmmmm...Passion. How do you motivate someone to have passion...or to get passion...or something? How do you get them to get on board with your vision? I have been told I should be gentle when sharing my ideas; but I can't be "gentle" about something I am "passionate" about. What a dilemma.

I am back
I have not posted for a very long time. The babies are now a year old. Madison was born on March 29, 2006 and Jacob was born on April 11, 2007. I don't know what life would be like without my "Grand Kids". Now there are four of them! Praise God for healthy and happy children. Jacob started walking when he was about 10 months old but Madison couldn't care less whether she ever walks.
Jodie, my middle child, got engaged New Years Eve 2007 and is getting married on Labor Day weekend. She has chosen to get married in a wedding chapel in Helen, GA. It is a very nice place and the reception will be held there as well. The wedding chapel concept is pretty cool cause you pick your package, write a check and let them do most of the work. It is so much easier than how we did Jen's wedding. Jodie's paternal step-grandmother (what a title) is going to make all the flowers and give them to her as a wedding gift and her roommate is making the wedding cake. I now have to rent a cabin up there so that we have a full size refregerator to put the cake in. The most diffifult details are just the logistics of it being out of town but that is just fine with me. It is still much less stressful than having to plan and do the work for the whole thing yourself.
The second big event of the year began when my uncle in Illinois passed away in early February. Mom and Dad flew up to go to the funeral and spend some time with my Aunt afterwards. Dad was sick the whole time they were gone and when he came back to Georgia his doctor thought he might have pneumonia and sent him to the hospital for and x-ray. What happened next made me feel like someone had socked me in the stomach and took my breath away for about three days. He was diagnosed with lung cancer. He had the upper right lobe of his lung removed on March 23 and God answered our prayers. The suregion was able to remove the whole tumor and the pathology report on the lymphnodes came back negative. At this point just a little over a month later his oncologist has says that it appears that there is no more cancer!
There is more but I will have to post again later as it is time to return to my work here in the office. Break time is over. :-)

Nana Again
Jen and Steph and both expecting. Daughter Jen is having a baby girl (her 3rd girl) and Steph is having a son. My son Matt (Steph's hubby) is very excited!
